Your School

Sherpa Kids offers high quality childcare at an affordable price. Working on a child carer ratio of no more than 15:1, it delivers a fresh and vibrant approach to childcare. It aims to give children “such a good time they just don’t want to go home!”.

In addition to offering activities, ranging from arts and crafts to sports and fun food and experiments, Sherpa Kids also capitalises on its international connections by, for example, encouraging Sherpa Kids children from Ireland to face-time and chat with Sherpa Kids children in South Africa.

All of our services are run by dedicated franchisees that are carefully selected by the company. By using a franchise model, Sherpa Kids’ services not only benefit from the local knowledge of the provider, they also contribute to the economic and employment prospects of local communities since all the decision making is done at local level by the franchise owner.

Our Services:

Before School, After School and Holiday Care

Before School, After School and Holiday Care

Before School, After School and Holiday Care Programmes are provided in accordance with the requirements of the school and Sherpa Kids’ Centre Policies and Procedures .

In collaboration with the school, and supporting its values and ethos, our programmes will be tailored to complement the curriculum and themes running in the school. The weekly theme is explored each day via planned, fun activities that are designed to link with the National Quality Framework in Australia hence activities are outcomes based.

A typical After School Care weekly routine is:

  • Monday: Arts & Crafts
  • Tuesday: Music & Drama
  • Wednesday: Sport & Games
  • Thursday: Fun Food & Experiments
  • Friday: Fun Activities

A typical After School Care daily routine is:

  • Roll Call and recharge with a light lunch
  • Homework
  • Planned learning activity (e.g. Art and Craft)
  • Outside play (weather permitting)
  • Tidy up, Quiet time and children picked up.

These are a guide to Sherpa Kids’ Programmes but they are flexible enough to cater to children’s enthusiasm and interest on the day and can be altered to suit at the discretion of the Centre Director.

At all times we aim to provide a high quality environment for children which is welcoming, safe and stimulating where children are able to enjoy learning and grow in confidence.

The National Quality Framework in Australia covers children from 3 to 6 years old and is used by Sherpa Kids as a guide to how we provide our service as there is currently no written legislation or regulation in South Africa covering After School Care for national school aged children. It has 7 Areas of Childcare align  with the Australian Framework but more importantly, the delivery of the service is designed to reflect the needs of the children in our care.
